Delanie Wisz named to Wolf Pack Softball coaching staff

RENO, Nev. - Nevada Softball head coach Victoria Hayward named Delanie Wisz to the Wolf Pack coaching staff, Tuesday.

Wisz, a 2022 All-American and two-time All-Pac-12 honoree joins the Wolf Pack following two championship seasons as an assistant coach at San Diego State. Under Hayward, Wisz will work with the Pack's defense and assist coaching in the bullpen.

Wisz on joining the Wolf Pack: "To say I'm excited to be joining the Pack is an understatement. I am honored to be able to work alongside Victoria Hayward and the rest of the staff in developing these athletes and instilling a sense of confidence, resilience, and competitive excellence so that these women can take on the world after their time in the Nevada Softball program."

Under Aztecs head coach Stacey Nuveman Deniz, Wisz helped lead San Diego State to a 70-37 overall record including a 31-13 Mountain West record, two Mountain West Championships, two NCAA Regional appearances, and a 2023 NCAA Super Regional appearance.

Wisz and Hayward spent one season together on the San Diego State coaching staff in 2023. With Hayward as the associate head coach of the Aztecs and Wisz a volunteer assistant coach, San Diego State won 39 games and finished a half-game back of the Mountain West regular season championship. The duo went 3-0 in the Mountain West Championship, clinching a spot at the NCAA Regional. San Diego State outscored opponents 19-3 at the Los Angeles Regional, sweeping the regional and advancing to the NCAA Super Regionals for the first time in school history.

For the 2024 season, Wisz was elevated to a full-time Assistant Coach. Wisz helped coach the Aztecs to a 15-7 Mountain West regular season championship and another sweep of the Mountain West Tournament, clinching San Diego State's third straight NCAA Regional.

Hayward on Wisz: "I'm incredibly excited about bringing Delanie on staff. Her knowledge of the game, her playing experience, and our time together at San Diego State are going to be hugely important as we begin this new era of Nevada Softball.

Delanie has learned from some of the best coaches in our game and l know she will have a lasting impact on our culture as well as the development of our student-athletes."

Wisz also earned NFCA West All-Region First Team honors twice in her career at UCLA, in 2021 and 2022.

In her two seasons at LMU, Wisz played in 119 games, batting .298 with 22 home runs and 21 doubles. She was named to the All-WCC Second Team as a sophomore and dubbed an All-WCC honorable mention in her freshman season.
