RENO, Nev. – Nevada track and field announced the signing of Germany sprinter Vivian Groppe, the second signee of the 2024-25 class.

Shantel Twiggs. "An athlete of her caliber helps us move the needle in our program. Â She will be an impact player that should leave a mark on the sprint records during her tenure that will take the Nevada records books to the next level."

Coming to Reno from Kassel, Germany, Groppe specializes in the short sprinting events, where she holds personal records in the 100 meters (11.55) and 200 meters (24.12). With these marks, Groppe would sit second all-time at Nevada in the 100 meters and fifth all-time in the 200 meters.

Most recently, Groppe saw competition at the German U20 Championships in November 2022, where she recorded her 100 meters time. She will look to graduate from Geschwister Scholl Obsterstufengymnaisum in May 2024, and continue her education and athletics career upon arrival in Reno in the fall.
