Box Score RENO, Nev. - Nevada finished the weekend on a 3-1 loss against in-state rival UNLV Saturday afternoon.
Kayla Afoa led the offense with 12 kills with a .186 hitting percentage. Afoa also led the back row for the Pack with 14 digs.
Andrea Alcaraz served as the primary setter for the Pack as she recorded 21 assists in the match.
Jordan Schwartz defended the Pack net with a total of nine blocks, that included four solos.
How it happened
Nevada started the set ahead of the Rebels on a 7-3 score. UNLV tied the game at the 10-10 mark, reversing the scoreboard in their favor. The Rebels took over the set, closing 25-17.
The Pack started the set on a roll, as they opened a 7-1 lead that forced the Rebels to call a timeout. UNLV reacted after a four-score run that forced Nevada to call a timeout at the 8-5 mark. The Pack kept the lead until the 18-18 mark, when the Rebels reversed the score, forcing Nevada to call a timeout. Nevada had a three-score run to win the set 25-23.
Nevada jumped on the scoreboard early in the third set with a 6-1 lead. The Pack kept the momentum going leading the game 15-13 on the media timeout mark. The Rebels took over the set on 22-21, forcing the Pack to call a timeout. UNLV closed the set 25-23 after a three-point score run.
The Rebels took an early lead into the fourth set with a 8-0 score run. Nevada did not make a comeback, and the Rebels closed the set 25-14 and the game 3-1.
