Wolfgram named MW Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week

RENO, NEV. – Second place finish at the Bronco Invitational, breaking a school record, and putting up the second fastest mark in Baylands park history. All of these accomplishments naming sophomore Tierney Wolfgram the Mountain West Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.

The sophomore earned this accolade because of her second place finish at the Bronco Invitational with a time of 19:31.2 in the 6k. This time not only beating her old personal best, but beating the school record by 56 seconds. The time now is the second fastest at the Baylands Park, just behind San Francisco's Ruby Smee. Her time also helped the women's team earn an eighth place finish at the meet.

At the first meet of the season, Wolfgram finished in first place during the women's 6k at the USF Invitational with a time of 20:47.9. The sophomore was almost 29 seconds faster than the runner up. The facility record at Golden Gate Park is 20:26.0. The time was not only good for that top finish, but at the time tied her for fifth all-time at Nevada in the event. This being Wolfgram's first official cross country meet.

Wolfgram and the Nevada men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Albuquerque to compete in the Mountain West Championships on Friday Oct. 29.
