COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West announced its 2019-20 Scholar-Athlete Award recipients today, honoring a Conference-record 1,023 student-athletes, including 150 individuals who have achieved a 4.00 or higher cumulative grade point average over two or more terms. The previous league record of 867 was set in 2018-19.

The MW Scholar-Athlete Award is one of the highest academic honors bestowed by the Conference. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in a Mountain West sponsored sport.
 
The University of Nevada had 92 athletes earn the MW Scholar-Athlete Award.  Last year 75 Wolf Pack athletes were recognized. 
 
Five Wolf Pack teams had double figure athletes named to the list.  Football, women's track & field and women's swimming & diving tied with 13 athletes each.  Women's soccer had 11 and softball 10. In its first season of competition in 25 years, the men's cross country team had seven athletes earn recognition.  

Women's volleyball was represented by five student-athletes.  Women's cross country, women's golf, and baseball had four athletes earn the MW honor.  Women's basketball had three selected to the team, men's basketball two, women's tennis two and men's golf one.
