RENO, Nev. – After a successful season on and off the track, Nevada track & field earned both team and individual academic awards from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The team was represented on the 2020 NCAA Division I Women's Track & Field All-Academic Team. Shantel Twiggs' squad put together a cumulative 3.668 GPA to not only earn the honor, but also rank 16th out of the 264 different programs that earned the award.
Not only was the team represented but three different individual student-athletes ended up on the 2020 NCAA Division I Women's Track & Field All-Academic list as well. One of those included junior Nicola Ader, who had previously earned All-American honors from the USTFCCCA. Ader earned her honor with a cumulative GPA of 3.748 while majoring in criminal justice.
Joining her on the list was Germany native junior Karoline Sauer. Sauer was highlighted by the school during the season with her Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the Month award. The honors and recognition continue academically for Sauer as she earned her spot on the list with her 3.745 cumulative GPA while majoring in psychology and minoring in statistics.
Lastly, senior Gaby Palmer was also represented on the list for her success, not only in the pole vault, but also academically. The senior earned a cumulative GPA of 3.605 while majoring in public health.
"In the classroom. On the track. In the field. Here are those individuals and teams who stood out in all phases of the student-athlete experience during the 2020 NCAA and NAIA track & field seasons and were honored on Thursday with All-Academic Awards," according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
