RENO, Nev. – The Nevada track and field team had lots of success throughout the 2019 season. The team saw two student-athletes named to the Mountain West All-Conference team, two medals won at the Mountain West Championship and many Nevada all-time records broken over the course of the season. Now the Pack looks to exceed its 2019 accomplishments and even more.
The team will compete five times in seven weeks before the Mountain West Indoor Championship, Feb. 27-29 in Albuquerque, N.M. Three of those competitions are meets the Pack competed in last season, including the Ed Jacoby Invitational, the Colorado Invitational, and the Boise State Team Challenge.
In the Ed Jacoby Invitational last season,
Nicola Ader broke two of her personal bests in the 60 meter hurdles and the high jump, which at the time put her in a four-way tie for fifth all-time at Nevada in the high jump. This meet also saw
Emily Costello, who was a freshman during this meet, move into a tie for eighth all-time at Nevada in the 400m.
The Colorado Invitational last season had even more success by Ader, who broke five personal records, got into three top-10 lists at Nevada and won the pentathlon in that meet. The meet also saw an emotional
Gaby Palmer as she broke the school's all-time record for the pole vault with a finish of 13' 6.25" (4.12m).
Costello, who shined in the Ed Jacoby Invitational that year, also saw success in the Boise State Team Challenge as she moved up to seventh on the Nevada all-time list in the 60m dash. Along with Costello,
Agnese Mulatero also moved up on the Nevada all-time list, placing seventh in the 60m hurdles.
The Pack will be competing in Boise three different times throughout the indoor season. One of those events being the Bronco Invitational, an event that the Pack has not competed in since the 2015 season. This will also be the first time the Pack will compete in Albuquerque during the regular season since they competed in the Don Kirby Elite Invitational in 2018.
Nevada will start its 2020 indoor track & field season this Saturday when it travels to Boise, Idaho for the Bronco Invitational.
