RENO, Nev. – Getting right back into tournament action, the Nevada men's golf team will compete in the Husky Invitational next week.
The two-day, 54-hole event begins on Monday and will conclude on Tuesday with the final 18 holes. Nevada participated in this event last year when it was held at Aldarra Golf Club in Sammamish, Wash. and scored a second place finish. This year's tournament, however, will be hosted at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash. The Wolf Pack has experience at this golf course though as it was the site of the 2018 Mountain West Championship where Nevada placed third. The 2020 Mountain West Championship will return to Gold Mountain next May so the Pack will get some early practice in on this golf course.
The field next week features 15 teams, including four Power 5 programs in Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State and tournament host Washington. Nevada will also have the chance to see where it stacks up in the Mountain West early on as it will compete against three other league opponents in San Diego State, New Mexico and Boise State.
For the Pack's second event of the fall season, head coach
Jacob Wilner will send six student-athletes to compete, with one entered as an individual. Four of the five who competed in the Pack's season opener will also tee it up in Washington with seniors
Sam Harned,
Sam Meek and
Tony Gil, along with sophomore
Trey Davis all set to play. New to the lineup this week is newcomer
Cam Kellett, a transfer from Young Harris College. Another newcomer,
Peyton Callens, a transfer from Texas A&M, will compete as an individual.
Live scoring for the entire tournament will be available on GolfStat.com.
