Sickler takes third in steeplechase

Senior moves into top 10 in NCAA West Region

CLOVIS, Calif.  – The Nevada women's track and field team picked up two bronze medals and 19 team points today at day three of the Mountain West Conference Championships. Leading the way for the Wolf Pack was senior Lindsey Sickler's third place steeplechase finish.

Sickler closed the night with a bang, taking third in the steeplechase under the lights. Sickler's time of 10:04.66 shaved over nine seconds off of her previous personal record of 10:13.85. The time is good for eighth in the NCAA West Region, heading into the weekend, and should earn the senior one more collegiate running of the steeplechase. Heading into the weekend, the time would put her 15th in the NCAA. The finish contributed six points to the Wolf Pack's team total.

Sickler's time is just under four seconds off of the Nevada program record of 10:00.32.

The Pack picked up eight points in the pole vault, thanks to junior Gaby Palmer and senior Emily Etter. Palmer took third with a mark of 12' 11" (3.94 m), and Etter took seventh with a max height of 12' 5.25" (3.79 m). Palmer's bronze medal will join the one she earned during indoor season, where she also took third. The pole vaulting pair contributed eight points to the team total.

Sophomore Nicola Ader picked up five points for the Pack, finishing fourth in the long jump with a mark of 19' 8.25" (6.00 meters).

In the 400m hurdles, defending conference champion Karoline Sauer topped her heat to qualify for tomorrow's final with a time 60.64 seconds. Joining the junior in tomorrow's final is sophomore Agnese Mulatero with a personal record time of 63.01.

Sophomore Eliza McCall will be running in the 800m finals tomorrow, qualifying today with a time of 2:10.31. Freshman Emily Costello took eighth in the 400m with a time of 55.72 to advance to tomorrow's final.

Going into the final day of the competition, Nevada sits in sixth with a total of 25 points, just three points behind fifth-place Wyoming. Colorado State leads the conference with a total of 48 points.

The Wolf Pack will wrap up the conference championships tomorrow, starting with the javelin at 2:00 p.m. PT. Sophomore Alex Bohlman currently leads the conference in the event, and freshmen Gaia Osborne and Anna Maria Sommerfeld sit in fifth and seventh, respectively. The meet concludes with the 4x400m relay, which begins at 8:55 p.m. PT. Live results will be available at nevadawolfpack.com/tf, and a live stream is available through FloTrack.
