STANFORD, Calif. – The Nevada track and field team completed the Stanford Invitational today. The top mark of the day was sophomore Morgin Coonfield breaking her own school record in the 10,000 meters. Senior Lindsey Sickler moved up on the Nevada all-time list in the 3,000m steeplechase as well.
"Lindsey ran a great disciplined effort, grabbing a personal record in her first 3,000m steeple of the year," said assistant coach Kirk Elias, who oversees the distance runners. "Morgin had a wild ride in the 10,000m, eclipsing her own school record. She had some rough laps then came back strong. I am proud of both of them."
Coonfield finished 23rd in her heat with a time of 34:39.64, improving her previous personal record time of 34:45.86, which had stood as the Nevada school record since last year's San Francisco State Distance Carnival.
Sickler took third in her 3,000m steeplechase heat, finishing with a time of 10:13.85. The mark is a personal record and moves her into second all-time at Nevada. Sickler's previous personal best time of 10:16.22 was the fourth best in school history, set at last season's NCAA West Preliminary Round in Sacramento, California.
The Wolf Pack will be back in action next Saturday for the Mountain West Challenge in Las Vegas. Live results for the meet will be available at nevadawolfpack.com/tf.
