HAYWARD, Calif. – Two members of the Nevada track and field team moved into the top five of the 10,000m all-time list this evening. Sophomores Hiley Dobbs and Lauryn Massic took first and third respectively in their heat at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival.
"It was a very good effort from both with a three minute personal record by Massic and a 57 second personal record from Dobbs," said assistant coach Kirk Elias, who oversees the distances. "I am proud of their effort and their focus."
Dobbs took first in the heat and second overall with a time of 35:01.28, which shaved almost a minute off of her previous best time of 35:58.08, set at the 2017 Mountain West Outdoor Championships. The time moves her into third all-time at Nevada.
Massic's performance 35:44.89 was almost three whole minutes faster than her personal record time of 38:28.99, set at last year's Mountain West Outdoor Championships. The time is good for fifth all-time at Nevada. The finish put her third in her heat and 13th overall.
Tomorrow, the Wolf Pack will see sophomore Morgin Coonfield and senior Lindsey Sickler compete in the Stanford Invitational. Coonfield will run in the 10,000m, while Sickler will compete in the 3,000m steeplechase. The meet will be streamed on FloTrack, and live results will be available at nevadawolfpack.com/tf.
