SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Nevada women's track and field team completed day two of Sacramento State's Hornet Invitational today.
The top mark of the day came from sophomore
Alex Bohlman. Bohlman's distance of 151' 7" (46.20 m) was good for a sixth place finish in the event. The distance also landed her in eighth in the NCAA West Regional Qualifying List heading into this weekend. Freshman
Gaia Osborne landed in the top 10 of the event as well with a throw of 137' 10" (42.02 m).
Freshman
Emily Costello completed a strong weekend with an 11.93 second finish in the 100m. The time was good for 11th in the event, and moved her into 10th place on the Nevada all-time list. Heading into the weekend, the time is tied for 24
th in the west region
Opening up the day was freshman
Anna Sommerfeld in the heptathlon. Sommerfeld topped the long jump with a leap of 16' 5.75" (5.02 m). The finish earned her 565 points to extend her
day one lead in the event. In the javelin, Sommerfeld's throw of 127' 1.5" (38.75 m) was the best in the event, and good for 643 points to keep her in first place overall. Sommerfeld was unable to complete the 800m, but still finished second overall in the heptathlon with 3,913 points.
The Pack enjoyed a strong day in the pole vault as well, with junior
Gaby Palmer and senior
Emily Etter both claiming spots in the top four of the event. Palmer finished second with a height of 12' 7.5" (3.85 m), while Etter finished fourth with a height of 12' 1.50" (3.70 m). Freshman
Marissa Richey set a personal record with a height of 11' 1.75" (3.40 m) to finish 15th.
In the 5,000m, the Pack saw sophomore
Katarina Stashyn take 16th overall with a time of 18:20.07. The finish was almost seven seconds faster than her previous personal record of 18:27.03.
In the 800m, Nevada had three athletes in the top 20 overall. Freshman
Mikayla Shults took sixth overall with a time of 2:14.11, Junior
Claire Crowley took 13th with a time of 2:16.97 and freshman
Kalia Pfeffer took 17th with a time of 2:20.22.
Nevada saw two runners finish in the top 20 of the 1,500m as well, as sophomore
Hiley Dobbs took 16th with a time of 4:41.98, and freshman
Tabatha Walford finishing in 4:43.21.
Sophomore Agnese Multero landed in the top ten overall for the 400m hurdles, finishing eighth with a time of 1:05.18. Junior
Andrea Stark took 12th with a time of 1:06.63. The duo found themselves in the 100m hurdles as well, with Stark taking seventh with a time of 14.31. Mulatero took ninth with a time of 14.46.
Fresh off a trip to the NCAA Indoor National Championships in the high jump, sophomore
Nicola Ader won the high jump today. Ader's won with a max height of 5' 9.75" (1.77 m) and was joined in the top three by a teammate, junior
Delaney Gosse. Gosse's height of 5' 6" (1.68 m) was good for third.
Two members of the Pack made it to the top 10 in the shot put, with Osborne taking ninth thanks to a distance of 39' 9.75" (12.13 m) and sophomore
Tina Lao taking 10th with a 39' 4.5" (12 m) throw.
Freshman
Gabby Fraser claimed a spot in the long jump top 10, finishing with ninth with a jump of 17' 8.25" (5.39 m). Fraser also landed in seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 37' 3" (11.35 m).
In her first collegiate meet, freshman Keena Murphy took 12th overall in the discus with a throw of 127' 8" (38.91 m).
In the 400m, sophomore
Brooke Carson took 13th overall with a time of 57.55 seconds.
Next up for the Pack will be a trip to San Diego, Calif. next weekend for the Aztec Invite, hosted by Mountain West foe San Diego State.
