SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Nevada swim team picked up three dual wins in the San Diego Eliminator Meet on Saturday afternoon. The meet was run as a double dual meet with the Pack winning over all three teams in attendance, San Jose State, San Diego and Dixie State.
Nevada beat the host team San Diego, 72-19, Dixie State in 71-20 fashion and topped the day off with a victory over Mountain West opponent, San Jose State, 67-23.
The day started with a Pack first place finish in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:51.55. The relay squad comprised of sophomores Imogen Watson and Donna dePolo along with senior Rebecca Murray and newcomer Josien Wijkhuijs collected 11 points for Nevada while "B" relay for the Pack came in second for four more points.
Freshman Wijkhuijs also collected two second place finishes to start her career at Nevada. The first came in the 50 butterfly with a 25.89 time for three points and in the 50 backstroke with a time of 27.49 for another three points.
In the 1000 freestyle, the Pack was represented by Lindsey Soule, who took the top spot with a time of 10:30.38 to give Nevada nine more points on the afternoon. Sophomore Caitlyn McHugh continued with the event wins, claiming her own top spot in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.53. Teammate Alexa Markl finished fourth and added two more points.
Junior Andressa Cholodovskis took first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.13 with freshman Julia Adamczyk finished second and dePolo took fourth to combine for 15 points in the one event.
In the finals for the 50 breaststroke, dePolo claimed the victory with a time of 29.56 and senior Caitlyn Richardson finished second with 24.24.
Seniors Jamie Reynolds, Rebecca Murray and Caitlyn Richardson along with McHugh wrapped the day up with a win in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:34.46 for another 11 points.
Next up for the Pack is a home meet against UNLV on January 15. It will also be senior day with recognition happening prior to competition.
