Wolf Pack cross country sets schedule for 2018 campaign

Will begin competition Sept. 1

RENO, Nev.  – Nevada's cross country team has set its slate of races for the 2018 season.

The campaign will open Sept. 1 in California as the Wolf Pack competes in the San Francisco Invitational. The race will be held at Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park. After that, the team will travel to Springfield, Ore. to partake in the Dellinger Invitational on Sept. 21. Hosted by the University of Oregon, the race will be at the Springfield Golf Club.

Then, in the final race before championship season, the Wolf Pack will compete in the Pre-National Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin on Oct.13. Nevada won the B race in last year's showcase and will look to build on that success. As the national championship site, the University of Wisconsin will host this year at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.

The Mountain West Championships will be held in San Diego's Morley Park on Oct. 26, providing some sea level air for the high elevation team. The NCAA Mountain Region Championships will be held in Provo, Utah on Nov. 9. Finally, the NCAA National Championships will be back in Madison on Nov. 24.

Nevada brings back several key members of a team that saw a great amount of success in 2017. The Wolf Pack finished in the top three of each of its regular meets before the championship season. The team won an away meet for the first time in 10 years, taking first in the Pre-National Invitational in Louisville, Kent.

The Pack went on to fall just one point short of a top five finish at the Mountain West Championships, and took ninth in the NCAA Mountain Region Championships, thanks to five sophomores who are all back for 2018.
