Weather pushes series start to Saturday

Weather at SJSU changes schedule: The weather in San Jose, Calif. has changed the weekend schedule with the Spartans.  Friday's game has been postponed and the first game of the series is scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m.  The remainder of the weekend schedule will be determined based on weather and field conditions.

This Week's Opponents: Nevada (15-11, 9-3 MW) continues its six-game road swing with a three-game Mountain West series at San José State (10-17, 3-8 MW) this weekend  ...  The Wolf Pack swept the Spartans earlier this season in Reno scoring in double figures in each game winning by scores of 11-4, 10-9 and 14-4  ...  SJSU is 1-7 in its last eight games and are 7-7 at Municipal Stadium this season  ...  As a team the Spartans rank last in hitting in the conference with a .263 average as does their 6.33 ERA while the .975 fielding percentage is second ...  In MW play SJSU is last in hitting (.260), sixth in ERA (6.65) and sixth in fielding (.969)  ...  Brett Bautista is second in the MW batting .405 with 16 doubles, two triples, three home runs, 35 runs scored and 19 RBI ...  In MW play he is also second batting .452 with 13 runs scored, seven RBI, three doubles and three home runs  ...  Pitcher Andrew Mitchell leads the team with 3-0 record and has posted an ERA of 5.13 with 37 strikeouts  ...  Josh Goldberg is 2-3 with a 4.66 ERA in 36.2 innings on the mound and has struck out 26  ...  The Saint Mary's College Gaels are 15-12 overall and 5-4 in the West Coast Conference  ...  The Gaels are 2-3 in their last five games and 5-5 in the last 10  ...  As a team SMC is batting .255 with an ERA of 2.97  ...  SMC won both meeting last season 4-0 in Moraga, Calif. and 6-1 in Reno.

Nevada lost two extra inning one-run games at No. 4 Oregon State on Monday and Tuesday  ...  The Wolf Pack led the majority of both games  ...  In game one the Pack allowed an unearned run in the 11th inning as a dropped fly ball with two-out by center fielder Cole Krzmarzick allowed the run to score in the 3-2 loss  ...  Tuesday the Pack led 5-0 only to have OSU score four runs on bases loaded walks in the eighth inning to take a 7-5 lead but the Pack tied the game with two runs in the top of the ninth and it was off to extra innings ...  With two down in the bottom of the 10th Krzmarzick attempted to make a diving catch in center field but the ball got by him and rolled to the walk for an inside-the-park home run that gave the Beavers the 8-7 victory.

After the series at San José State the Pack plays a single game at Saint Mary's College on Monday before hosting New Mexico for a three-game Mountain West series Apr. 13-15 followed by a Tuesday home game with Pacific on Apr. 15.
