Jayce Dobie named 2025-26 Doc Martie Award recipient

RENO, Nev. - Capping a Wolf Pack career which included both national and conference honors, as well as a conference title, Nevada Baseball's Jayce Dobie has been named the department's 2025-26 Doc Martie Award recipient.

Named for former Nevada men's basketball coach J.E. "Doc" Martie (1923-29, 1930-39), the award is given out annually to Nevada's top male student athlete in their final year of eligibility and in good academic standing.

Over his two seasons in Reno, Dobie appeared in 106 games batting .347 and posting an OPS of .958 with 140 hits including 31 doubles, a triple, 15 home runs and 77 RBIs. He was named to the All-Mountain West First Team in each of his seasons with the Wolf Pack and was one of 15 national semifinalists for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year in 2026.

Dobie's versatility was on display at the plate, in the field, and on the mound over his two seasons. In addition to his offensive production, Dobie made 17 mound appearances (all starts) as one of the Wolf Pack's midweek starters over the last two seasons, picking up three wins and striking out 48 batters over 58.0 innings of work.

Joining the Wolf Pack ahead of the 2025 campaign, Dobie immediately made an impact in the Mountain West. The Santa Clara, California native batted .339 with 16 doubles, seven homers and 36 RBIs, playing a key role in the Wolf Pack capturing its first Mountain West regular-season title since 2021.

He was voted to the Preseason All-Mountain West Team ahead of the 2026 season and lived up to the expectations batting .355 with a team-leading 75 hits including 15 doubles, eight homers and 41 RBIs. Dobie was the only member of the Wolf Pack to start all 51 games in 2026, with his season highlighted by a 24-game hitting streak from March 22-May 2 over which he batted .412 (40-for-97) with seven homers, five doubles, and 24 RBIs.
