RENO, Nev. – For the third time in two seasons, the Nevada softball team will travel to Stockton, California Feb. 23-25. The five games the Wolf Pack is scheduled to play at the Libby Matson Tournament will be some of the team's most challenging ones to this point as Nevada will square up against perennial national power and seventh-ranked LSU, as well as Seattle U, who the Pack fell to by one run at the Desert Classic.
The Pack also heads into the weekend looking to continue its hot start to the season at the plate. In the first 10 games of 2018, Nevada's offense has put together some of the best numbers in the nation, ranking in the top 50 in batting average (.307, 50th), doubles per game (1.60, 37th) and home runs per game (0.90, 45th).
In its last outing, Nevada won its opening game of the Desert Classic against UTEP, where the Pack took down the Miners by a score of 6-2. Sophomore
Kenzi Goins was responsible for five of the team's six runs, recording a career-high five RBIs to go along with a home run and run scored.
Freshman
Julia Jensen put together a bid for a perfect game against Seattle University, where she retired the first 12 batters she faced. Jensen finished the game tossing a one-hitter with no walks and five strikeouts in the 2-1 loss to the Redhawks.
