Nevada secures the series win over San José State

RENO, Nev. — Nevada (24–12, 6–3 MW) took a 9–3 win over San José State (11-21, 3-6 MW) on Sunday afternoon at Christina M. Hixson Softball Park, securing the Mountain West series victory.

Nevada took the 1-0 lead in the second inning with a solo home run from Saige Alfaro. The Spartans followed with two runs of their own to take the lead at 2-1 in the top of the third inning.

The Wolf Pack broke the game open in the fourth turning a 2–1 deficit into an 8–2 lead. The inning featured Karolyn Glover launching a two-run home run to put Nevada back in the lead at 3-2. Soon after Madison Clark hit a three RBI triple pushing the lead to 6-2 over SJSU.

Hannah Di Genova continued her standout season with her 15th home run of the year extending the lead for Nevada once again at 8-2.

 In the sixth inning Di Genova hit an RBI single solidifying the score at 9-2.

In the circle, Tess Bumiller earned the win, throwing 4.1 innings and allowing just one run on three hits while striking out five. She entered in the third and held the Spartans to a single run the rest of the way. Hailey McLean started the game, working 2.2 innings with two strikeouts.

Nevada returns to action next week where they will travel to Phoenix for a series against GCU.
