PHOENIX, Ariz. — Nevada delivered a road victory Friday night, knocking off No. 17/22 Grand Canyon 4–3 behind a four‑run second inning and a walk‑off double play to end the game at GCU Softball Stadium. This marks Nevada's second Top-25 win of the season.
The Wolf Pack (25–13, 7–4 MW) seized control early, stringing together four runs in the second inning to take the lead over the Lopes and hand GCU just its third loss of the season and its first loss in the Mountain West.
Saige Alfaro opened the scoring with an RBI single, followed by run‑producing hits from
Bailie Clark and Katelyn Wetteland as Nevada extended the lead at 4–0.
Grand Canyon (37-3, 10-1 MW) chipped away with a solo home run in the fourth and a two‑run homer in the seventh, but Nevada's pitching trio held firm.
Talia Tretton improved to 8–3 after four strong innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts.
Hailey McLean followed with two innings of no‑hit relief, and
Ainsley Berlingeri earned her first save by recording the final three outs.
The game ended with the tying run headed toward the plate on a fly ball to center.
