Cross country hits road again for Capital Cross Challenge

Pack seeking first road win since 2007

RENO, Nev.  – Looking to build on two strong performances to start the year, the Nevada Wolf Pack cross country team is headed to Sacramento for the Capital Cross Challenge Saturday.

It will be the Wolf Pack's second 6000 meter race of the season after placing third in the Sundodger Invitational two weeks ago. Set for 10:15 a.m., conditions look to be perfect for a meet held on what tends to be a very fast course. Snaking across in two horseshoes at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex, the flat and hard ground could yield to some personal record times for Wolf Pack runners.

"I am just so encouraged by what I've seen from this team in the first two meets," head coach Kirk Elias said. "We have people healthy now, we're training well. We could really show some great stuff Saturday morning."

And the hard work is paying off. Since placing third at the Sundodger Invitational, the Wolf Pack has moved up five spots in the weekly region rankings, now ninth in the Mountain. Competing against a total of 17 Division I teams, including Mountain West foes Fresno State and UNLV, a high placing, even a victory, could push Nevada even further up.
