Sam Harned, a senior on the men’s golf team has been selected as the April Student-Athlete of the Month. The Rocklin, Calif. native completed his first undergraduate degree last December in general business and is currently working on obtaining a second degree in business marketing. He began his career as a walk-on for the men's golf program but deservingly earned a scholarship his sophomore year. Harned hopes to play professional golf after his time at Nevada.
Despite his senior season being cut short due to COVID-19, Harned played 19 rounds of golf and set the single season program record with a scoring average of 70.21. He secured the first individual win of his collegiate career at the season-opening Badger Invitational where he finished 12-under par after shooting rounds of 70, 70 and a career-low 64 in the final round. In seven events during the 2019-20 season, Harned collected three top five finishes, four top 10s and five top 15s.
