RENO, Nev. – University of Nevada women’s track and field pole vaulter Gaby Palmer has been named Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the Month for February. Palmer is starting the indoor track and field season off strong, breaking the school pole vault record on Feb. 1 at the Colorado Invitational in Boulder, Colo.
A Reno native, Palmer is a junior majoring in community health sciences with a public health emphasis. Palmer has posted a 3.564 GPA, and plans to attend graduate school for occupational therapy after graduation.
Palmer’s school record mark of 13’ 6.25” (4.12m) places her second in the Mountain West and 35th nationally. Her effort contributed to the pole vault squad rising in the national rankings, taking the 35th spot.
