Reno, Nev. – Nevada baseball senior Keaton Smith has been named the Nevada Student-Athlete of the Month for May, excelling in both the classroom and on the field for the Wolf Pack.
Smith graduated in the Fall of 2018 with a degree in criminal justice and a minor in entrepreneurship. Currently, the Henderson, Nev. native is working on his Justice Management master’s degree.
In his fifth year with the Pack, Smith holds a career batting average of .256 with 13 homers and 70 RBI. As a senior this year, Smith has smacked three bombs and four triples while making 35 starts.
The second baseman had a historic week for Nevada to end the month of April, hitting a 10th-inning walkoff home run against defending national champion and No. 2 ranked Oregon State. He followed up that performance by hitting for the cycle at Air Force, being named the National College Baseball Writers Association National Player of the Week.
Smith and the Pack will play a pivotal series this weekend at San Jose State, beginning Friday night at 6 p.m.
