Nevada in eighth after weather shortened day one in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Nevada Women's Golf kicked off the 2026-27 campaign, Monday, playing one and a half rounds in a day shortened by weather. The Pack finished between 32-33 holes on day one, sitting in eighth at a +18 total (298, +8 through 14-15). 

Coco Kolbas provided the best play for the Pack on day one, starting the tournament with a round of 74 (+2), highlighted by three birdies. Kolbas offset the red on her card with three bogies and a double but showed great resolve in the holes played in round two, making four birdies through 14 holes to sit at one over-par and in a tie for 22nd. 

Payton Lovisa matched Kolbas' opening round of two over-par 74, also making three birdies on the round, offset by three bogies and a double. Lovisa has played steady golf in the 14 holes of round two, making three bogies and eleven pars, sitting in a tie for 34th at five over-par (+5). 

Joined in a tie for 34th at five over-par is Marina Nonaka. Nonaka played an opening round of 75 (+3), making one birdie on the round, offset by four bogies. In round two, Nonaka battled from a tough start birdieing holes seventeen and one as she made the turn, sitting at two over for the round with two holes to play. 

Freshman Mia McDowell has kept pace well in her first outing for the Wolf Pack, opening with a round of 78 (+6) highlighted by a birdie two on the 16th. McDowell has proved her birdie making ability so far in round two, making three birdies through fourteen holes to sit at two over-par for the round. McDowell sits in a tie for 48th at eight over-par. 

Rounding out the Pack starting five is Amy Na, who opened with a round of three over-par 75. Na's round was punctuated by birdies on three out of the four par fives, offset by six bogies. In round two, Na has struggled to find momentum, sitting at nine over-par for the round.
