Meet Schedule
CLOVIS, Calif. -Â Nevada Track and Field are set to compete at the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday, May 14th through Saturday, May 16th at the Veterans Memorial Stadium. Competition will begin at 9:50 a.m. on Thursday, 10:20 a.m. on Friday and 3Â p.m. on Saturday.Â
At last year's indoor championships the Pack placed sixth with 77 points. The highlight of the meet came from now junior, thrower
Lilly Urban, who earned the first Mountain West medal of her career, placing 1st in the javelin competition with a school record throw of 56.89m. Returning sprinter
Magdalene George took home two silver medals at last years championships in both the 100m (11.34) and the 200m (23.12). Fellow returning sprinter
Annalies Kalma earned bronze at last years championships, running a 53.90 to place third in the 400m final. The Pack is also returning all medalists from their 4x100m and 4x400m bronze medal winning teams, including
Annalies Kalma,
Kylee Parsons,
Magdalene George,
Halyn Senegal and
Vivian Groppe.Â
This year the Pack enters the Championships with athletes ranked top 10 in the Mountain West in 14 events.
Lilly Urban is the best ranked Pack athlete, ranking first in the conference and sixth in the NCAA, and will look to return to nationals to compete for All-American status this year. Urban also sits fourth in the conference heptathlon rankings.
Hallee Hughes ranks two places behind Urban in the rankings, sitting third.
Alma Kathan ranks second in both the heptathlon and long jump rankings, freshman
Anne Schuch ranks third for heptathlon,
Hazel Gaspaire sits fourth in the high jump rankings, and
Kaja Maltaric sits seventh in the long jump rankings and eighth for triple jump.Â
In the sprints and relays,
Annalies Kalma enters the championships ranked second in the 400m, as the school record holder, and fourth in the 200m. Freshman
Malena Galvan ranks ninth in the conference for 800m, and the Pack's relay teams rank third (4x400m, Parsons, Kalma, Galvan, Senegal) and seventh (4x100m, Groppe, Kalma, Parsons, George) respectively.Â
