FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Nevada Track and Field opened competition at NCAA West First Rounds in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Thursday, highlighted by
Lilly Urban booking her ticket to the national championships.
Javelin competition kicked off day one, with
Lilly Urban and
Hallee Hughes competing for the Pack.
Lilly Urban led the way, placing 10th, throwing 51.17m to qualify for the national championships in Eugene, Oregon in two weeks' time.
Hallee Hughes closed out an impressive junior season with the Pack, throwing 46.57m to place 25th.
Long jump followed with
Alma Kathan the representative for the Pack. Kathan jumped 6.11m on her second jump of the day to conclude her superb sophomore season, where she moved up to second on the Nevada all-time list for long jump.
Senior
Annalies Kalma closed out day one, competing in both the 400m and 200m. Kalma came out hot in heat five of the 400m, running a 52.08 to place second in the heat and auto qualify into Saturday's semifinal, where the top 12 sprinters will advance to nationals. In the 200m, Kalma ran valiantly, running a 23.76 to narrowly miss out on qualification by 0.29 seconds.
The Pack will return to competition on Saturday, where
Hazel Gaspaire will compete in the high jump competition and
Annalies Kalma will run in the 400m semifinals.
