Multiple Nevada personal bests on first day of Silver & Blue Invitational

RENO, Nev. - The opening day of the Silver & Blue Invitational from the Reno-Sparks Convention Center is in the books after Friday's performances.

Nevada athletes topped their respective fields in Pole Vault and Long Jump, with additional strong efforts in the 60-Meter Hurdles and the Mile.

Stella Ross, Adessa Mathews and Alyssa Carson each hit the top height in Pole Vault at 3.45 meters, with Ross claiming the event by needing less attempts to make the mark. Natalie Hobbs and Paloma Baumert tied for fourth at 3.15 meters.

Two members of the Pack competed in Long Jump, with Kaja Maltaric taking the event with a top jump of 5.74 meters. Johanna Haas took third with a best of 5.60 meters.

Haas recorded another top-three finish, taking second in the 60-Meter Hurdles in 8.53, the fastest among four Wolf Pack sprinters in the final. The time also just missed Haas' personal best by two-hundredths of a second.

Misa Holland turned in a personal-best 8.93 to take fourth, while Alma Kathan (8.95) also posted a personal best to take fifth and Savana Chalmers came in sixth at 9.09. Hazel Gaspaire posted a 9.67 in qualifying heats.
