Reno, Nev. - Nevada Track and Field opened competition at the Nevada Invitational, Friday, highlighted by
Annalies Kalma who broke the school record in the 300m.
The 60m hurdles kicked off action at the Nevada Invitational, with six Wolf Pack hurdlers competing for the Pack. Leading the way for the group was
Johanna Haas who ran a 8.53, qualifying in second place for the final, just shy of her personal best.
Misa Holland also qualified for the final, placing eighth in the prelims with a time of 8.86. Just outside of the qualifying spots, in ninth, was Valeria Paez-Rueda, who ran an 8.87 also just shy of her personal best.
Alma Kathan ran strongly, posting a time of 9.05 placing 11th. Rounding out the Wolf Pack hurdlers were
Savana Chalmers in 17th (9.22) and
Hazel Gaspaire in 23rd (9.46).
Johanna Haas matched her time of 8.53 in the 60m final, placing second overall.
The 60m dash followed, with five sprinters representing the Pack.
Kylee Parsons led the way for the Wolf Pack, running a 7.70, placing 18th.
Vivian Groppe followed Parsons, running a 7.78, just shy of her personal best to place 25th.
Misa Holland ran a personal best sub 8 second time (7.98) to place 39th, with
Paloma Baumert (8.21) and
Savana Chalmers (8.39) rounding out the Pack 60m times.
The 300m highlighted again, with the school record falling once again, this time
Annalies Kalma took the crown, running a 37.08 to place first and capture a second indoor school record.
Magdalene George returned to competition, running a 38.83 to place second.
Jasmine Harris (41.26) took out fifth,
Leylah Diaz (41.45) took sixth and
Caitlynn Holt (43.03) rounded out the group in 8th.
Long Jump was the penultimate event of the day with
Kaja Maltaric leading the way for the Pack in the heats, qualifying for the final, jumping 5.83m, the 10th best mark in school history.
Alma Kathan also qualified for the final, jumping 5.75m. Rounding out the Pack long jumpers were
Johanna Haas (5.47m) in 14th, Valeria Paez-Rueda (5.46m) in 16th and
Hazel Gaspaire (5.45m) in 17th. Kathan reached a mark of 5.92m in the final, entering the all-time list at number nine and finishing third.
Kaja Maltaric failed to improve in the final, finishing fifth.
Pole Vault rounded out competition on day one at the Nevada Invitational, with
Alyssa Carson taking first place, clearing 3.56m. Adessa Matthews was next best for the Pack, placing fifth, clearing 3.41m. She was followe by
Stella White (3.26m) in sixth and
Natalie Hobbs (3.11m) in ninth.
The Nevada Invitational will kick off at 10am tomorrow for the second and final day of competition.
