RENO, Nev. – Nevada's 2025 women's soccer season launches with an away match at Arizona State on Thursday, August 14, in Tempe. The contest will be streamed live on ESPN+, marking an auspicious season opener as both programs begin their campaigns.
SCOUTING ARIZONA STATE
Arizona State is coming off a 2024 campaign in which it went 8-8-3 and 6-4-2 at home. Heading into Thursday's opener, the Sun Devils are unbeaten in their previous 15 non-conference home matches dating back to 2021.
THREE NAMED TO MOUNTAIN WEST 2025 WATCH LIST
Three Nevada standouts earned recognition on the 2025 Mountain West Watch List, as selected by the conference's head coaches: junior
Olivia Loomis, senior
Maddie Benson, and freshman
Naima Castro. Loomis, entering her junior campaign, has been a consistent offensive presence for the Wolf Pack, contributing heavily to the attack. Benson, the lone senior of the group, anchors Nevada's defense with her experience and leadership. Castro, one of just two freshmen named to the 39-player list, is poised to make an immediate impact for the Pack.
LOOMIS LEADS RETURNING PRODUCTION
Forward
Olivia Loomis heads up Nevada's attack in 2025 after a team-best (with
Emily Rich) five-goal campaign a year ago.
Rylee Husted scored a goal and assisted on another in her debut campaign with the Pack in 2024, while in goal
Mia Collins started eight matches and made 43 saves.
NEW MOUNTAIN WEST SCHEDULE
The 2025 Mountain West campaign will look different than what the Pack is used to. With the addition of Grand Canyon to the mix, 2025 features a 13-team soccer conference, and a 10-match schedule in which each team will not play two other teams. For the Wolf Pack, it will not face defending regular-season champion Boise State nor San Diego State in MW action.
