RENO, Nev. - Nevada Men's Basketball head coach Steve Alford announced the signing of Corey Camper Jr., a dynamic and experienced guard, to the Wolf Pack's 2025-26 roster.
"Corey is a talented guard who brings athleticism, skill, and a real scoring punch to our backcourt," said Alford. "He has the ability to break down defenders, shoot it from deep, and push the tempo. He's also a committed defender who takes pride in guarding the ball and making plays on that end. His competitive edge and hunger to improve make him a great fit for our program."
Camper comes to Nevada after a strong 2024-25 season at UTEP where he started 30 of 31 games played. He averaged 10.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while helping the Miners lead the nation in both steals per game and turnovers forced per game. He was second on the team in three-pointers made and attempted and connected on over 71 percent of his free throw attempts. Camper scored in double figures 13 times during the season and UTEP posted a 10-3 record in those games. He recorded a career-high 21 points on nine of fifteen shooting in a win at Liberty and delivered 19 points to help the Miners rally past top-seeded Sam Houston in the Conference USA Tournament semifinals. He also added strong defensive performances, ranking eleventh in Conference USA in steals per game.
Prior to his standout senior season, Camper had already made an impact during his junior year at UTEP where he started 24 of 34 contests. That year he averaged 8.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game while finishing second on the team in minutes played. He helped the Miners rank among the nation's best in defensive categories, contributing to a team identity built on pressure and intensity.
Before arriving at UTEP, Camper was a star at Tyler Junior College where he played under NJCAA Hall of Fame coach Mike Marquis. Over two seasons he started every game, scored nearly 1,000 career points, and earned JUCO All-American Honorable Mention honors in 2022-23. During that season he averaged 19.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists while shooting over 50 percent from the field and 36 percent from three-point range. Camper had multiple 30-point performances including a career-high 40 points against Jacksonville. He was a consistent threat from deep and also excelled at getting to the free throw line, hitting over 76 percent of his attempts.
Camper's success started early at Little Rock Central High School where he led his team to back-to-back state finals appearances for the first time since 2002. He was a two-time All-State and All-Conference selection and was voted as one of the top five players in Arkansas 6A by the Arkansas Basketball Coaches Association.
With his proven scoring ability, defensive toughness, and leadership, Camper is expected to make an immediate impact for the Wolf Pack as they continue to build momentum for the 2025-26 season.
