Reno, Nev. - The Mountain West announced
Lilly Urban as the Mountain West Field Athlete of the Week Tuesday, following her stellar performance at the Mt. SAC Relays last week.
Urban broke the school record for the third meet in a row, throwing 55.45m at the Mt. SAC Relays to take out first place, beating out the #6 ranked Javelin thrower in the NCAA by almost a meter. Her mark of 55.45m is just 0.79m off the Mountain West record for Women's Javelin Throw, something to keep an eye on as the season continues. Urban now sits 10th in the NCAA for Javelin and 1st in the Mountain West, and will be eyeing gold at the conference championships next month.
This marks the third time in the past five weeks that Urban has won the award, the first time a Nevada Track and Field athlete has completed that feat since 2022, when heavily recognized alum Nicola Ader accomplished the feat.
Urban and the Nevada Track and Field team will next be in action as a whole at the Fresno State Invite, the last regular season meet before the conference championships.
