HANOVER, N.H. -Â The first day of the 2025 NCAA Skiing Championships got underway with Slalom Wednesday, with Nevada earning 27.5 points to sit 13th in the team standings.
Iver Walday Naess took 12th and
Jeger Halbjoerhus tied for 22nd in the men's race. With rain creating challenging conditions on the course, the two Wolf Pack skiers gamely attacked the course and were in good position after the first run.
Naess blazed out of the gate on his first run, clocking a 42.09 to sit fifth, within three-tenths of a second of the top three. Halbjoerhus, who was entered into the field just a day prior due to an injury scratch, had the 15th-fastest second run of the field to finish his NCAA debut tied for 22nd with a time of 1:29.25.
Naess clocked a 46.71 in his second run, sitting ninth with just four more skiers remaining in the field, and finished 12th in 1:28.80, missing All-America honors (top 10 finish) by just six-hundredths of a point.
The Wolf Pack pair will return to action Friday to compete in Giant Slalom. The men's first run is set for a 7:25 a.m. start, with the second run scheduled for 10:25 a.m. PT.
