RENO, Nev. – Nevada Athletics Director
Stephanie Rempe has announced a three-year contract extension for Wolf Pack Women's Tennis Head Coach
Guillaume Tonelli, keeping Tonelli at the head of the program.
"As a double graduate of the University, Coach Tonelli is passionate about Nevada, the tennis community, and his tennis program," said Rempe. "His enthusiasm is contagious and we are excited to extend his coaching career at Nevada. His positivity carries to the court as the program's semifinal appearance in the Mountain West Tournament in 2022, and quarterfinal appearance last season shows that bright things are in store for Wolf Pack Women's Tennis."
Tonelli is in his 14th season as the Women's Tennis Head Coach and is coming off his best year leading the team since taking over the program in 2011.
The 2024 Wolf Pack finished 11-9 overall and 5-4 in conference play, in addition to an undefeated 5-0 home record. Nevada earned massive wins over Wyoming, Colorado State, and Boise State. The 2024 season also saw Amahée Charrier become the Pack's first back-to-back Mountain West honoree since Claudia Herrero was selected three years in a row from 2016-18.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to continue working as the women's tennis head coach," said Tonelli on his extension. "I am thankful for the trust placed in me to give the best experience to our student athletes, to compete at the highest level in Division I tennis, and within our conference.
I am trying to consistently improve myself and focus on learning, growing, and contributing in ways that elevate the team, because success is built together. I want to thank our Athletic department, University, and community for everything that you do for the athletes."
Tonelli coached six different players to double-digit singles win seasons in 2023-24, with five players reaching the same mark in doubles play.
Earlier this season, Tonelli helped lead Charrier to an ITA Conference Masters Consolation Championship. Charrier qualified for the event through her final run at the Mountain West Fall Tennis Qualifier. At the ITA Conference Masters, Charrier won four straight matches in four days to end the tournament and claim the Consolation Championship.
In his time at Nevada, Tonelli has coached 15 singles and seven doubles all-conference selections. Tonelli coached Herrero to a 2017 Mountain West Player of the Year award, as well as Mariana Campino and Charrier to Mountain West Freshman of the Year awards.
Tonelli's Wolf Pack has opened the 2025 season 5-1, picking up key wins against UC San Diego and UC Riverside. Nevada opens its 2025 home campaign March 8, facing Santa Clara, the front end of a back-to-back home weekend.
