RENO, Nev. – Nevada Track & Field announced the signing of a pair of multis Friday. Long Jump/Triple Jump specialist Kaja Maltarič (Slovenia) and Heptathlete Anne Schuch (Germany) will join the Wolf Pack for the 2024-25 season.
Maltarič competes for Slovenia on the international stage, specializing in long jump and triple jump. Earlier this month, Maltarič recorded a personal best of 12.47 meters in Triple Jump to top the field at the Slovenian U20 Championships, a mark which also would have placed seventh and scored at the 2024 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Her top mark in Long Jump, 5.70 meters, was notched in June 2023.
"We are so excited for Kaja to join our team, she is a horizontal jumps specialist who is just scratching the surface of her capabilities, said Nevada assistant coach
Scott Williamson, who oversees the Wolf Pack's multis, jumpers, and throwers. "We look for her to join a strong jumps squad and make an immediate impact in the Mountain West in both the long and triple jumps."
Schuch, a heptathlete from Germany, boasts the 100-Meter Hurdles, Long Jump, and Javelin as her best events. Her personal best in the 100 Hurdles, 14.61, would have been the third-fastest amongst heptathletes at the 2024 Mountain West Outdoor Championships, while her personal bests in Long Jump (5.77 meters) and Javelin (38.69 meters) would have ranked first and third, respectively, amongst the conference's heptathletes at the event.
"We welcome another great athlete from Germany in Anne, who specializes in the heptathlon. Anne has put together some very impressive marks in individual events during her career and I feel will be making an immediate impact in the Mountain West," said Williamson.
