RENO, Nev. - The Nevada Women's Golf program and Head Coach Kathleen Takaishi have announced the addition of Nicole "Coco" Kolbas, a transfer who spent her first collegiate season competing for Indiana this past year.
"Coco had an outstanding amateur career and she had a solid freshman season for Indiana," said Takaishi. "She is an exceptionally talented golfer who has the potential to make an immediate impact on our program this coming season. I am incredibly excited that she has decided to join the Wolf Pack family, and we are eager to welcome her to campus this fall."
Kolbas opted to attend Indiana this past year for her freshman campaign after a tremendous amateur career.
She competed in four events for the Hoosiers throughout her freshman season, compiling a scoring average of 78.0. She posted a season-low round of 73 in the Chevron Collegiate, which was also her best outing of the season, as she carded a 54-hole score of 229 (+13). Kolbas had her best finish of the year at the Therese Hession Buckeye invitational, where she completed the event tied for 55th overall at +18 (78-77-79=234).
Originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, Kolbas had a sensational amateur career. She earned individual medalist honors at the PGA Junior Girls Qualifier and won the USGA Junior Girls Qualifier outright. Kolbas also secured an individual title at the Nebraska Junior Girls' Amateur.
Competing for Lincoln Pius X High School, Kolbas had a highly decorated high school career. She was a four-time Nebraska All-State honoree, one time State Champion, three-time Super State Coaches Association Award honoree, and she broke the Pius X HS scoring record.
Kolbas is the first transfer addition for the Pack this offseason, however, she joins high school recruits Amy Na and Marina Nonaka as the third new addition to the Nevada women's golf program for the 2024-25 campaign.
Kolbas will have three years of eligibility remaining with Nevada.
