George takes first in 100-meter dash, 4x100 rewrites all-time list mark, multiple athletes make all-time list appearances, highlighting final day of competition

AZUSA, Calif. – The third and final day of competition for the Wolf Pack was nothing shy of great as Magdalene George took the crown in the 100-meter dash, the 4x100 meter relay rewrote their own mark on the Nevada all-time list, and three athletes made individual appearances on the all-time list Saturday to conclude the weekend in Southern California. 
 
Representing the Pack in the 5000 meters Open C section, Paige Penrose sped her way to a new personal record, dropping nine seconds from her previous best to secure 10th place with a time of 17:20.02.
 
The Nevada 'A' 4x100 meter relay squad made up of Kylee Parsons, Bonét Henderson, Annalies Kalma, and Magdalene George earned an 11th place finish, running a time of 45.90. This mark rewrites their own (45.92) on the Nevada all-time list, remaining sixth all-time in the event.
 
In the 400 meters, Kalma finished 29th with a time of 55.64 while Parsons ran a new personal record time of 55.88, placing 37th and becoming 10th all-time in Nevada school history.
 
Samantha Irwin competed in the pole vault C section, placing tied for sixth overall with a mark of 3.42 meters, just off her mark from the Beach Invitational Friday afternoon (3.46m). In the long jump, Rayven Nealey posted a 12th place finish with a mark of 5.76 meters. Later that afternoon, Nealey and Meekness Dogonyaro each made it to the final in the triple jump, finishing in fourth (12.52m) and seventh (12.36m) overall.
 
Magdalene George picked up another personal record in the 100 meters, besting her previous set Friday afternoon at the Beach Invitational (11.64). George ran a time of 11.63, remaining sixth all-time in Nevada school history. With her time, George took the crown in the event, the next closest runner recording a time of 11.73. Henderson (12.27) finished 56th overall.
 
Sarah Marske had a successful outing in the 100-meter hurdles, seeing a new personal record time of 13.61 to finish fifth. This mark moves her up from fifth to tie for third all-time in school history with Nevada alumna and eight-time All-American Nicola Ader. Marske's previous time of 13.72 is one she set during the 2023 outdoor season. 
 
OkeOghene Ovedje led the 400-meter hurdles trio Saturday afternoon, running a Nevada personal record time of 1:01.96, finishing 23rd and coming just outside the Nevada all-time list. Melia Middleton (1:02.23) and Kylie Burton (1:02.65) placed 26th and 31st respectively.
 
Henderson ran her third event of the day, finishing the 200 meters with a time of 24.73, placing 35th. Natasha Chetty (24.64) was 29th.
 
In javelin, Emily Poole and Hallee Hughes, who both set new personal records and all-time list appearances in the event Friday at the Beach Invitational, led the group with their furthest marks of 44.54 meters and 44.43 meters, to advance to the final. In the final, both Hughes (45.95m) and Poole (45.66m) saw their furthest throw of the day, securing fifth and sixth place finishes. Izzy Steerman (40.69m) would finish 14th.
 
The distance squad in the 1500 meters all set personal records in their respective heats. Natalia Martino (4:37.72) set a Nevada personal record and a season best to secure fifth place overall, only five seconds off her lifetime best time of 4:32.32. Next was Claire Nelson in 14th who saw a two-second improvement of 4:39.39. Madelyn Shipman (4:41.21) and Hannah Lee (4:45.71) crossed the finish line in 28th and 33rd place, each running personal records by four seconds.
 
The Pack will be back in action Saturday, April 27 at the Fresno Invitational, the last regular season meet before focusing their sights on the postseason, beginning with the 2024 Outdoor Mountain West Championships in Clovis, California May 9-11.
