Valentine selected for U.S. National Beach Soccer Team Camp

RENO, Nev. - Nevada soccer head coach Vanessa Valentine is one of 16 players invited for a domestic training camp by the U.S. Women's Beach Soccer National Team held from Feb. 27-March 4 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The camp will be used as preparation for the team's matches in the BSWW El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup to be held March 28-30.

Valentine was a member of the Beach WNT that competed at the 2023 ANOC World Beach Games Qualifiers in El Salvador back in April and helped the team qualify for the games that were scheduled for August. The second-year head coach for the Pack also competed for the Beach WNT in the 2022 ANOC World Beach Qualifiers and the 2021 Women's Intercontinental Cup.

As a player and a three-time captain for Cal State Fullerton, Valentine was a three-time All-Big West honoree while playing for the Titans. Valentine played professionally in the WPSL for 10 years, spending time with Beach FC, the LA Strikers, San Diego United and the Colorado Force. She also played one season with the Philadelphia Independence in the National Women's Soccer League.

Heading into her second season as Nevada's head coach in 2024, Valentine led Nevada soccer to one of the best turnaround seasons in program history. Winning just three matches in the year prior to her arrival, Valentine led Nevada to six wins en route to the Pack's first bid to the Mountain West Tournament in a decade.

Nevada finished in sixth in the conference standings in Valentine's first season, the highest Mountain West finish for the Pack in the last decade. The 2023 team ranked in the top eight in program history in goals (24), assists (18), shots (211), corner kicks (92) and shutouts (5).

The Pack will play a handful of games in the spring starting in mid-March. The full spring schedule will be announced at a later date.
