RENO, Nev. - After the cancellation of their first scheduled event of the spring season due to weather conditions, the Nevada Women's Golf team is set to officially begin the second portion of the 2023-24 season Monday morning, as they will commence play at The Causeway Invitational, hosted by UC Davis and Sacramento State at Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento, California.

Tournament Info

The Causeway Invitational is a two-day, 54-hole event taking place at Del Paso Country Club. Golfers will play 36 holes on Monday, before closing out tournament play with one 18-hole round scheduled for Tuesday.

The Field

The Causeway Invitational boasts a solid 12-team field. In addition to Nevada and host schools UC Davis and Sacramento State, the field consists of Wyoming, Hawaii, BYU, Gonzaga, Weber State, Cal Poly, Fresno State, Santa Clara, and British Columbia (Canada).

The Course

Del Paso Country Club is a par-72 course spanning 6,143 yards. The course has played host to multiple championship tournaments, including the 2015 U.S. Senior Open. It consists of ryegrass fairways and nationally renowned putting surfaces.

Projected Lineup

Leah John

The fifth-year senior will enter the second half of her final season with Nevada, and she will aim to close out her historical career in stellar fashion. John is coming off an incredible fall season, in which she earned three top-10 finishes, won back-to-back individual titles at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational and the Golf Iconic Classic, matched a program record for the best single round score in Nevada Women's Golf history, and was named the Mountain West Women's Golfer of the Month at the conclusion of the fall season. John has already etched her name into Nevada Women's Golf history as one of the best players they've ever had, and she has the opportunity to put together one of the best single seasons in program history with a strong spring.

Raesa Sheikh

Sheikh begins the spring season in the second position in the Wolf Pack lineup after an exceptional run through qualifying. The junior made three appearances for Nevada this past fall, earning her best finish at the Golf Iconic Classic after carding rounds of 75-74-72 to complete the event at +5.

Anna Shultse

Shultse had an impressive fall season for the Pack after transferring into the program this past offseason. She appeared in all four events for Nevada in the fall, recording two top-25 finishes. Her best outing of the fall season came at the Lady Paladin Invitational, where she took third-place after carding rounds of 66-72-71 to finish the event at -7. Her score of 66 (-6) was a career-best, and it also matched the second-best single round score in Nevada Women's Golf program history.

Gabby Kano

Kano put together an excellent fall season for the Pack, as the sophomore appeared in all four events for Nevada, and she earned three top-20 finishes. Kano completed the fall portion of the season with a scoring average of 72.9, and she had her best performance of the season at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, where she finished tied for eighth at even par.

Nikki Chindavong

The freshman will round out the Wolf Pack lineup in the first event of the spring season. Chindavong had a splendid fall season, appearing in the Nevada lineup during the last three fall events. Chindavong compiled a scoring average of 74.4 throughout the fall season, and she had her best finish at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, where she concluded the event tied for 10th on the leaderboard at +1.

Individual Participants

Kaitlin Fleiner and Payton Lovisa will be competing at The Causeway Invitational as individual participants.
