RENO, Nev. - Nevada soccer has added two-time NIAA state champion goalkeeper and Pahrump, Nevada, native Avery Moore to its 2024 fall roster, head coach
Vanessa Valentine announced.
Moore, a three-time NIAA 3A Golden Gloves award winner, helped Pahrump Valley High School to four league titles, three regional championships and state championships in 2021 and 2023.
"Avery positively impacts winning both on and off the field and she is going to bring that mindset into our culture," Valentine said. "A goalkeeper's job is to help put their team in a position to win and Avery has proven she does that time and time again. She is an excellent student and an outstanding young lady who will impact our chemistry in a positive way. We can't wait to have Avery join us this fall."
Winning her first 3A Golden Gloves award as a sophomore, Moore guided Pahrump Valley High School to a second straight league championship in 2021. After winning the regional championship, Pahrump Valley won its first state championship with Moore in the net to cap off the season.
Moore followed that up in her junior season by being named to the All-State, South All-League and Mountain Division All-League First Teams as a junior. Moore's team again won the league championship and captured a second straight regional title with her in the net.
Protecting the net by helping Pahrump Valley secure a state semifinal victory in penalty kicks, Moore guided her team to another state title in 2023 and captured her third 3A Golden Gloves award in the process. Moore, a two-time All-State Academic team member with a 4.0 GPA, lettered four years in basketball at Pahrump Valley and competed at the club soccer level for 05 Players Elite SC.
With Moore's signing, Nevada now has five freshmen in Valentine's first recruiting class: Ariel Bolton (Forward, Temecula, California), Morgan Duke (Defender, Salem, Oregon), Natalie Sippos (Midfielder, Bozeman, Montana) and Dyllan Willamson (Defender, Santee, California). Moore will also join a trio of Division I transfers to go with Nevada's veteran core of 13 players who are juniors or seniors.
Nevada soccer is coming off one of the best turnaround seasons in program history under Valentine's first season. Winning just three games the previous season, the Pack collected their most wins since 2015 with six and qualified for its first Mountain West Tournament since 2013.
The Pack will play a handful of games in the spring starting in mid-March. The full spring schedule will be announced at a later date.
