Nevada signs four from 2025 class

RENO, Nev. - Nevada Softball signed four players in the first high school recruiting class under head coach Victoria Hayward.

Hayward's inaugural class features IF Anna Braukus, IF Gianna Serrano, C/OF Zaria Gee, and IF Katie Wetteland.

"This class is competitive and wants to win," said Hayward on the signing class. "It's a mix of infield, outfield, and catching, all with championship expectations.  We're excited about the versatility and athleticism of this group and look for them to make an immediate impact next season and in future seasons."

Anna Braukus / Infield / 5'3" / Redmond, Wash. / Mount Si HS
Entering her senior year at Mount Si High School, Braukus is a three-year starter on varsity for the Wildcats. In 71 games for Mount Si, Braukus hits .427 with 100 hits and 80 RBI. The Redmond native has hit 17 home runs and 24 doubles, boasting a .773 slugging percentage and 1.274 OPS while stealing 18 bases across her career. Braukus plays club softball for NW Bullets Campos 18U.

Hayward on Braukus: "Anna is one of the top infielders in the state of Washington.  She is a true shortstop, and we look for her athleticism and leadership to be felt right away.  Her energy and competitive drive will resonate with our culture and I'm confident that her best softball is still ahead of her."

Gianna Serrano / Infield / 5'4" / Garden Grove, Calif. / Rosary Academy
Serrano, a three-year varsity athlete at the Rosary Academy, played in 29 games for Rosary in 2024. Serrano hit .300 in 70 at-bats, tallying 21 hits with five doubles and a home run. Serrano knocked in 16 runs and scored 13 herself. Serrano carried a .427 on-base percentage and stole two bases in her junior season. Serrano currently plays club ball for Watson Wolfpack 18U.

Hayward on Serrano: "Gianna is a true triple threat with the ability to play anywhere on defense.  She comes from a coaching background and sees the game at a really high level.  Her speed and versatility make her a great addition to our team and I know her championship expectations will help raise the standards of our program."

Zaria Gee / Catcher/Outfield / 5'7" / Orangevale, Calif. / Casa Roble HS
Gee heads into her fourth season as a starter for the Casa Roble Rams. In three seasons, Gee bats .359 over 181 at-bats. Gee combined power with speed, hitting four home runs and slugging .535 whilst tallying seven triples and stealing 32 on the basepaths. Gee has 43 RBI and six doubles in her time as a Ram. Gee plays club softball for LTG Henderson 18U.

Hayward on Gee: "Zaria is small but mighty.  She has a plus arm and will compete behind the plate for us.  She has gap-to-gap power and can play the outfield, and we are excited to see how she develops within our program."

Katie Wetteland / Infield / 5'7" / Rocklin, Calif. / Rocklin HS
Wetteland, a career .381 batter for the Rocklin Thunder, had a standout freshman season before missing extended time with the team. Wetteland returned to the Rocklin lineup for limited at-bats towards the end of her junior season. Set for a full return to the diamond in her senior year, Wetteland owns career totals of 32 hits, 11 doubles, a triple, and a home run in 34 career games for the Thunder. Wetteland holds a career OPS of 1.035, featuring a .571 slugging percentage. Wetteland plays her club softball with the Lady Magic Walling 18U.

Hayward on Wetteland: "We were lucky to snag Katie a little later in the recruiting process. Katie is a versatile infielder with the ability to play multiple positions and brings good power and adaptability at the plate.  She is gritty and we expect her to make an immediate impact on both sides of the ball."

The 2025 signing class will hit the field for their respective final high school seasons in the spring.
