Box Score RENO, Nev.—Nevada volleyball secured a 3-1 victory over New Mexico at the Virginia Street Gym, improving to 10-8 overall and 3-3 in Mountain West play. Nevada dropped the first set but rallied to win the next three, defeating New Mexico with scores of 25-27, 27-25, 25-22, and 25-22.
In the first set, Nevada took an early 8-3 lead, highlighted by a big block from Tehya Maeva and Bella Snyder. However, New Mexico fought back to tie the set at 19-19. Despite a late kill from Gabby McLaughlin, New Mexico claimed the set, 27-25.
The second set was closely contested with ties at 9-9 and 15-15. Maeva and McKenna Dressel delivered key kills down the stretch, and Carissa Chainey's final kill gave Nevada a 27-25 win, tying the match.
Nevada continued its momentum into the third set. An ace from Sierra Bernard and a rally-ending kill by Chainey gave the Wolf Pack a 10-6 lead. A block from Dressel extended the lead, and Nevada won the set 25-22.
In the fourth set, New Mexico led early, but Nevada responded with an ace from Snyder to tie the game 7-7. Nevada went ahead after a big block from Sia Liilii and Snyder. Snyder's final kill sealed the 25-22 victory, giving Nevada the match.
McLaughlin powered Nevada's offense with 15 kills and nine digs, while Snyder added 13 kills of her own. Chainey made a strong impact with 13 kills and two aces, and Dressel contributed seven kills. Maeva had a well-rounded performance, delivering seven kills, two aces, and 34 assists, while Kinsley Singleton led the defensive effort with 17 digs.
Nevada will next face Utah State for the Mountain West Block Party on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Virginia Street Gym.
