RENO, Nev. - Nevada soccer added the final player to its 2023 roster in San Diego transfer Sydnie Fong.
"Sydnie is a fantastic addition to our Pack and she will bring added depth to the defender position," head coach Vanessa Valentine said. "Her previous experience at San Diego will allow her to hit the ground running with us. The team is excited to have her and I know she will instantly impact our team."
Spending her first collegiate season at the University of San Diego, Fong made one appearance for the Toreros during the 2022 season. She played 61 minutes against No. 17 Pepperdine, the most of any substitute.
As a two-time team captain at San Marin High School in Novato, California, Fong was a three-time team MVP award winner and was a First Team All-League selection during her senior year. She was also named to the Principal's Honor Roll all four years of high school.
Nevada Soccer will begin its new era under Valentine's leadership Aug. 17 at Virginia, a 2022 NCAA Quarterfinalist. The Pack open play at Mackay Stadium Sept. 3 against UC Riverside.
Fans will be able to get their first glimpse of the 2023 Nevada Soccer team during the Silver & Blue Scrimmage Sunday, Aug. 13 at 1 p.m. at Mackay Stadium. Admission is free and the team will be running a post-match clinic.
