RENO, Nev. – Nevada track and field announced the signing of Glendale, Arizona native Heaven Wheat, to the 2023-24 class.

Scott Williamson. "She comes from a great vaulting program in Arizona, and she will add a lot of depth to our pole vault squad. Â Heaven is a really determined, hard-working young lady who I think will make an immediate impact in the Mountain West Conference."

A four-year track and field letter athlete out of Sandra Day O' Connor High School, Wheat will join the Pack in true freshman standing, with a personal best indoor mark of 11' 7", a mark she earned during her junior year season competing at the 31
st Annual Indoor Classic, placing second overall in her age group. Wheat's best outdoor mark is 11' 6", a height she vaulted this season at the AIA Division I State Championships, where she placed sixth, the second time she would finish in the top-10 in the event two years in a row. During her career, Wheat was a part of three team district championships (2021-23), as well as three state championships (2021-23) with the Eagles. Individually, Wheat was an undefeated district champion in pole vault all four years. Â

Wheat will be joining a stellar 2023-24 class, as she becomes the 10th signee that will begin this upcoming fall. Among her new teammates, Wheat will join hurdlers Leylah Diaz, Melia Middleton, and Oke Gift Ovejde, multis specialist Grace Colmer, sprinters Iyanuoluwa Bada and Magdalene George, jumper Stina Larrson, javelin thrower Hallee Hughes, and distance runner Hannah Lee.
