Nevada Soccer adds Northern Colorado to regular season schedule

RENO, Nev. - Nevada soccer has added a match against Northern Colorado to its 2023 regular season schedule, which will be played Thursday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. at Mackay Stadium.

Northern Colorado, a 2015 NCAA Tournament participant, has won 10 or more matches in six out of the last eight years. The matchup will be the first meeting between Nevada and Northern Colorado in women's soccer.

Season tickets are available for purchase now, starting at just $25 for youth and $45 for adults. Every season ticket holder will receive an exclusive season ticket-holder gift while supplies last.

Single match tickets are available now online starting at just $7.

Northern Colorado returns its top two leading scorers from last season in Lauren Woodhull and Melina Faris. Woodhull led the Bears with five goals in 2022 while Faris earned All-Big Sky Honorable Mention honors. Kaya Lindberg, who recorded 89 saves to go with three shutouts, is back as the goalkeeper for Northern Colorado.

"We are pumped to play Northern Colorado Sept. 14 at Mackay Stadium," head coach Vanessa Valentine said. "It is fantastic that we are able to add an additional home match for our fans and we would love to get as much support for the team as possible. It will be an exciting match between two schools who are meeting for the first time in soccer."

In other scheduling news, Nevada will play an intersquad Silver and Blue scrimmage at Mackay Stadium Sunday, Aug. 13 at 1 p.m. in place of its previously scheduled exhibition matches against Saint Mary's and Sacramento State. Admission to the match is free and the team will be conducting a youth postgame clinic for players 8th grade or younger.

Nevada Soccer will begin its new era under Valentine's leadership Aug. 17 at Virginia, a 2022 NCAA Quarterfinalist. The Pack open play at Mackay Stadium Sept. 3 against UC Riverside.
