Coupu named to All-Mountain West Team

RENO, Nev. – For the second year in a row, Matheo Coupu from Nevada men's tennis has been named to the All-Mountain West Singles Team announced by the conference Tuesday.

This is Coupu's second career honor being named to the singles team, helping the Pack win the outright regular season and tournament titles last year, as well as receiving the first NCAA Tournament bid since the program returned to the Mountain West conference.

The Treilliéres, France native earned 13 wins overall this season, tying for the third highest wins on the team, along with a 2-1 record in conference, playing at Nos. 1-3 throughout the season. In his last ten matches, Coupu posted a 5-3 record, with all five of his wins against in-conference opponents. This season, Coupu had six matches end in straight-sets victories, while also having six matches end in three set showdowns, ultimately finishing in his favor.

In doubles, Coupu and freshman partner Youssef Kadiri Hassani were consistently dominant for Nevada, going 4-2 overall in their last 10 matches of the year, and posting a 2-2 record in-conference.

The Pack open the 2023 Mountain West Championships Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. PT, taking on the No. 7 seed. Air Force, looking for a second-straight win against the Falcons this season to defend home court, after a close 4-3 match victory in March.
