4x400 relay breaks school record; 11 personal records captured on day two

WALNUT, Calif. – Nevada track and field and Nevada men's cross country kicked off the second day of the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Mt. Sac Relays Friday continuing the momentum from a thrilling Thursday evening with 11 personal records, 11 season bests, one school record, and four appearances on the Nevada all-time list to wrap day two.  
 
"Day two of the tri-meet extravaganza was a mixed bag of Nevada top-10 performances, personal bests, season bests, and a school record," said head coach Shantel Twiggs. "We are still learning and growing in the way we compete and handle meet situations. As we head into day three, we have a great opportunity to find greatness at all levels!"
 
The multis started the day for the Pack once again at the Bryan Clay Invitational with the final three events of the heptathlon, Valeria Paez-Rueda and Kate Kadrmas competing in Section D with Johanna Haas competing in Section C. In the long jump, Haas posted a new season best with her mark of 5.71 meters, placing second overall in her section. Paez-Rueda also saw a season best in the event with her mark of 5.09 meters, finishing sixth, while Kadrmas placed 12th (4.90m). In javelin, Kadrmas earned a season best with a mark of 30.21 meters to finish sixth, Paez-Rueda finishing just behind her in seventh (30.01m). In Section C, Haas earned Nevada's first personal record of the day in javelin with her mark of 41.09 meters, besting her previous mark from back in July 2021, and finishing first overall in the event.
 
Heading into the 800 meters, Paez-Rueda saw Nevada's second personal record of the day with her time of 2:31.95 to finish eighth in the event, while Kadrmas saw her second season best of the day with her time of 2:33.29. The pair earned fourth and fifth place finishes, each with new season bests in overall points. Paez-Rueda finished with 4,487 points and Kadrmas finished with 4,397 points. Haas came in 18th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:28.67, ultimately finishing in second overall in Section C with a season best 5,066 points, putting her tied for ninth all-time at Nevada in the event.
 
At Mt. Sac, Sarah Marske kicked things off with the 100 hurdles, finishing 26th with a time of 14.44. Bonét Hendserson competed in the 100-meter dash, placing 39th with a time of 12.38. In the 400 hurdles, Carolyn Ross and Kylie Burton both finished in the top-30 in the event. Ross ran a time of 1:02.53 to finish 27th, and Burton ran a 1:02.60 for a new season best time, finishing 29th.
 
In the 400-meter dash, Annalies Kalma posted a new personal record with a time of 55.44, moving up to the sixth fastest time in Nevada school history, finishing 34th overall. Emily Costello also represented the Pack in the event, finishing 19th with a season best time of 54.18.
 
Rayven Nealey made it to the finals in the long jump, posting a new personal record with her mark of 5.99m, breaking her previous outdoor best by seven centimeters, and becoming the fifth all-time mark at Nevada in the event. Maria Paz Milani (5.41m) finished 36th. In javelin, Emily Poole and Isabelle Steerman earned top-30 finishes in the event. Poole threw for a mark of 42.59 meters placing 20th, while Steerman threw for 39.78 meters to finish 28th.
 
In the 800 meters, Halyn Senegal saw the highest finish for the Pack in 11th, running a time of 2:09.84. Raegan Gorzeman ran a season best with a time of 2:17.28 to finish 28th overall. Lilly Gregg and Bonét Henderson competed for the Pack in the 200-meter dash, finishing 36th (25.16) and 44th (25.43) respectively.
 
In pole vault, Camrin Dolcini and Hannah Watson represented the Pack in two different sections of the event. Dolcini competed in the Collegiate B section, while Watson competed in Collegiate D. Dolcini tied for fifth with a mark of 3.95 meters and Watson finished with a mark of 3.50 meters, also tying for fifth in her section.
 
Nevada competed in their first 4x400 meter relay of the outdoor season and celebrated by smashing the school record by two seconds, previously broken last season at the 2022 Mountain West Outdoor Championships (3:43.62) The "A" team made up of Annalies Kalma, Emily Costello, Lilly Gregg, and Halyn Senegal ran a time of 3:41.26, finishing fifth in the event.
 
Wrapping up the field events for the women were Nealey and Paz Milani in triple jump. Nealey jumped 12.32 meters, placing just outside the top-10 in 11th, and Paz Milani finishing 29th jumping 11.80 meters.
 
On the men's side, Daniel Sayo and Jared Marchegger began the evening in the collegiate 1500 meters race. Sayo made his spring season debut, finishing 33rd with a time of 3:59.46 and Marchegger 38th in a time of 4:09.28.
 
To finish the day off, out of the seven men that competed in the 5,000 meters, five had personal records over 10 seconds or more. Tryon Jardin saw the highest finish out of the squad, finishing just inside the top-10 in eighth, running a personal record time by 26 seconds with his 14:30.40. Next came Andrew Riberio, who finished 12th with a personal record time of 14:34.97, breaking his previous best from last season in March. Celime Garcia crossed the finish line 14th, speeding toward a new personal record by 16 seconds (14:37.20). The next four men would finish 15th-18th respectively. Danyom Yosief ran a time of 14:38.43, and Zander Simone smashed his previous best by 21 seconds, seeing the second-largest time drop of the group, with a time of 14:38.71. Sergio Mazon ran a personal record by 16 seconds with his 14:38.80, and rounding out the field, Soma Baligad dropped 10 seconds for a new personal record time of 14:46.43.
 
The Pack will finish out their weekend in Southern California for the third day at the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Mt. Sac Relays.
