SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Nevada Men's Golf team completed 36 holes of play Monday at the Lamkin San Diego Classic, finishing the day in 13th place on the team leaderboard after carding a combined score of 596 (+20).

Freshman Alex Maxwell led the way for the Pack individually, completing the day at one-over-par, placing him in a tie for 26th overall. In the morning round, Maxwell recorded a score of 72 (E). He earned an impressive six birdies throughout the round, in addition to recording seven pars. In the afternoon round, Maxwell carded a 73 (+1), picking up one eagle, five birdies, and seven pars throughout the round. 

Keita Okada came in second in the Wolf Pack lineup, recording a score of 148 (+4) across 36 holes throughout the day. Okada will enter the final round tied for 53rd on the leaderboard. Okada started off the day strong, carding an even-par 72 in the first round after tallying six birdies and seven pars in the opening round. Okada shot 76 (+4) in the second round.

Peyton Callens and Michael Sarro each finished the day tied for 76th after shooting a 36-hole score of 153 (+9). Callens carded a 78 (+6) in the opening round before bouncing back to shoot 75 (+3) in the second round. Callens tallied one eagle, two birdies, and nine pars throughout the second round. Sarro recorded a 74 (+2) in the first round before carding a 79 (+7) over the afternoon round. He earned four birdies and eight pars in the morning round.

Trey Davis finished tied for 91st after the first day of action. Davis shot 82 (+10) in the first round before carding a 76 (+4) in the second round.

Competing as an individual participant, Connor Motherway finished tied for 76th with Callens and Sarro after carding a 153 (+9) for the day. Motherway recorded an opening-round score of 74 (+2) before shooting 79 (+5) in the second round. 

Nevada will close out tournament play at the 2023 Lamkin San Diego Classic tomorrow morning, as they are slated to begin the third and final round at 8am.
