COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - After an outstanding start to the 2023 spring season, Nevada Women's Golfer Gabby Kano has been named the Mountain West Women's Golf Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Thursday.

Kano had a stellar outing at the Mountain Classic Match Play for Nevada earlier this week, going 2-1 across three matches to help propel Nevada to their third team title of the season, marking a new program record. 

Playing in the number two slot in the Pack lineup, Kano dominated her semifinal and championship round matchups, defeating her opponents in just 30 combined holes across the two matches.

In the semifinal round against Montana State, Kano managed to beat her opponent in just 15 holes, as she led by four with three holes remaining. 

Kano had a repeat performance in the Championship round against NAU, once again beating her opponent in just 15 holes, helping the Pack go on to secure the first-place finish. 

Kano and the rest of the Nevada Women's Golf team will return to the course this Monday, as they will travel to Las Vegas to compete at The Show at Spanish Trail, seeking to earn a second consecutive team title.
