DILLON, Colo. – Junior
Andreas Unhjem Smith tabs a 17
th place finish in the men's slalom, the second top-20 finish for Nevada this weekend, to close out their five-day competition slate in Colorado at the Denver Invitational Sunday afternoon.
"Our trip to Colorado was very intense as we ran five races in a row," said head coach Mihaela Kosi. "The Pack claimed a few good results by Iver Naess and Andreas Smith. It was great having our athletic director Stephanie Rempe and director of operations, Liz Savage out there supporting us. Next stop, Alaska!"
Smith's second run, 50.08, ranked first in the field, resulting in a combined time of 1:37.92 and allowing him to jump up from sitting 28
th after the first run. Iver Naess captured a 12
th place finish Saturday in the men's slalom, marking the first of the weekend. Finishing in 40
th,
Francesco Colombi finished with a combined time of 1:47.16, while Jeger Halbjoerhus and
Ibon Mintegui posted first run efforts of 48.08 and 49.43.
For the women,
Georgie Sullivan led the Pack for the second day in a row, finishing 35
th with a combined time of 1:38.67, both her first and second run remaining consistent on the day. Coming in next for the women,
Sixtine Piccard, finishing 40
th in 1:40.25, with
Tiia Nurminen crossing the finish in 43
rd (1:40.90), and
Elle Murphy 49
th (1:47.13)
The Pack will travel next to Anchorage, Alaska to compete in the Alaska Anchorage Invitational February 21 and 23, while also competing in the RMISA Championships, February 22 and 24.
