RENO, Nev. - After a successful start to the 2023-24 campaign last weekend, the Nevada Women's Golf team will seek to maintain its strong start to the season at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, hosted by Seattle U at Tacoma Country Club in Tacoma, Washington. Nevada had an exceptional outing at the 2022 version of the event, taking third place as a team.
Tournament Info
The Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational is a two-day, 54-hole event beginning on Monday, Oct. 2 and concluding the following day. Golfers will play 36 holes on Monday beginning with a shotgun start set for 8 a.m. before playing one final 18-hole round on Tuesday.
The Field
Outside of Nevada and host school Seattle U, the 21-team field consists of Cal State Bakersfield, Cal State Fullerton, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Hawaii, Houston Christian, Idaho, Montana State, North Dakota State, Portland State, Santa Clara, Sacred Heart, South Dakota, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, Weber State, and Wyoming.
The Course
Tacoma Country Club is a par-72 course spanning 6,087 yards. Originally built in 1894 on the shores of American Lake, Tacoma Country Club has played host to numerous well-known events, including the U.S. Women's Amateur, the U.S. Senior Women's Amatuer, and the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship.
Projected Lineup
Anna Shultse
After a tremendous start to her season, Shultse will lead the Wolf Pack lineup at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational. In her first event of the year, Shultse took third-place at the Lady Paladin Invitational last weekend, finishing the tournament at -7. Shultse shot even par or better in all three rounds, including matching the second-best single round score in program history by carding a 66 (-6) for the first round. Throughout the 54-hole event, Shultse tallied 34 pars, 12 birdies, and one eagle.
Leah John
John also had an outstanding start to the year, finishing the Lady Paladin Invitational at a tie for seventh. . After recording a 74 (+2) in the first round, John carded back-to-back 70's (-2) to finish the event at -2. She had 39 pars, seven birdies, and one eagle throughout the weekend. John had an impressive performance at the 2022 Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, finishing tied for 10th at +2.
Gabby Kano
Kano finished tied for 54th at the Lady Paladin Invitational after completing the tournament at +10. After opening the event with a 78 (+6) on the first day, Kano bounced back to shoot 72 (E) and 76 (+4) in the final two rounds. Kano had a solid performance at the 2022 Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, finishing tied for 36th at +9.
Nikki Chindavong
The freshman makes her debut appearance in the Wolf Pack lineup after competing as an individual participant at the Lady Paladin Invitational. Chindavong had an impressive collegiate debut last weekend, finishing tied for 49th at +9. Chindavong was incredibly consistent throughout the tournament, carding rounds of 76-74-75.
Raesa Sheikh
Sheikh finished tied for 65th at +12 at the Lady Paladin Invitational. The final round was her best of the tournament, in which she carded a 73 (+1) to close out the event. Sheikh finished tied for 50th at the 2022 Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational at +11.
